.: By Taxi Be careful, there are more taxi drivers in the city center then there should be.
There can be numerous private citizens in Rome dressing up their private cars like a taxi.
These fake “taxi drivers” of course follow a certain strategy to rip off tourist coming out of the
railway station, the airport ciampino and fiumicino for unsuspecting travelers.
The tourist should be aware of the taxis ID and meter. It is recommended to start your holidays in
Rome using only the official yellowish-white colored taxis that are available in front of the arrival
halls and Termini station when arrving in Rome.
It is certainly not the cheapest way to travel Rome by Taxi. Surcharges for extra luggage,
travel by night, sundays and bank holidays are a regular practise. Night travel
means between 10 pm and 7 am. When you are somewhere in the city and phone up a
taxi be also aware that the meter of a taxi in Rome starts when its been called
not when the vihicle arrives at your location. You may want to leave a tipp of 5%,
